Kings A’ Nuthin’- History
Our jacket club began in Orlando, Florida. It was the end of 1997 and this was the first time since the Marine Corps I found that I was able to rely on others as a brotherhood. We weren’t looking for anything to fight for or a cause to stand up for, instead what we found is that we backed each other up. We knew we were fuck-ups and didn’t fit in with anything so it was natural that we found each other. We had no money most of the time even though we were all working whenever we could, but we were able to put a roof over each others heads, feed each other when we could and bail each other out of jail when we had to. Some of us were veterans, some were retired troublemakers and some were just loners. It was time to put a name on this family. The original draft sheet on which we cast our votes was January 1998 had a short list of names other than the Kings A’ Nuthin’: -Emerald Dukes, SNAFU Kings, Alley Dukes among others. We drafted up the names in a small bar Big Dave’s mother owned. At the end of the night when I hopped on my chopper Alex asked me what I thought about which name we should use. The answer came naturally to me. “I ain’t no Duke…or Earl…but I am a King A’ Nuthin.” An hour later I was in jail for bullshit and the club’s fate was decided when they got me out. It was time to paint the jackets. “Born to Lose Live to Win” is the quote that surrounds the white smoking skull and red five point crown. We are now stronger than ever in our fifth year with many more good years ahead of us. Beginning with Orlando-Fl we’ve spread through Tampa-Fl and up the coast to Boston-Mass on up to Montreal-Canada and in recent years out as far as Las Vegas, Nashville and up in Washington State. We are a well rounded lot: from musicians, butchers and truck drivers to tattoo artists, security guards and store managers. We’ve weeded out the backstabbers long ago and have an honest perspective on newcomers to ensure our club will never fail.
